...what we're working with

Maple trees vary in all sorts of ways. They range from the Big Leaf Maple to the Paperback Maple and over 100 other species, but their longevity and fast growth is unparalleled. The roots of maple trees grow quickly and spread rapidly to establish themselves to sustain over an average life span of 100-500 years (per the interwebs). The maple exemplifies a lot of our own relationship traits, and we're excited to get our roots into this home. Where we start this journey is with a farmhouse-style home built in 1888; simultaneously brimming with both history and potential in the heart of our downtown community, and we couldn't be more excited to get our Maple project underway.
The home itself has seen multiple additions, generations of families and more stories than either of us will ever know, but we'll get to that in a second, as our "day one" together begins 130 years into our home's tale. Who are we? Two millennials who met just over four years ago thanks to work, and individually went through many twists and turns, leading us to an opportunity to start dating and discovering in each other the happiness, drive and deepened connection that inspired us to take a chance on this adventure together. We came across this house after a few quick walkthroughs, and instantly fell in love with its location and its character, and the feeling of "fit" for what we wanted between us.
Speaking of, bit of background on us: I DIY on a whim and destruct for fun, she crafts beautiful pieces of art and creates; I love industrial and she loves french farmhouses; together we've found a balance that allows us both to thrive individually and collectively. We'll continue to feature bits and pieces on each of us, but I can't wait for anyone following our story to see how fortunate I am to be complemented and enhanced by everything she brings to the table on a daily basis. This photo is where it starts for us with Our 1888.
We're here because we thought it'd be fun to document the projects, wins and inevitable setbacks we endure in this home. As we start to spread our roots and grow together, we appreciate you reading along with us. Stay Tuned
